CBET BENEFIT

In Timor-Leste, CBET initiatives have contributed positively to local economies and have also become an important alternative livelihood for local communities in Timor-Leste.  The following studies have proven that CBET has economically benefited the host communities.

For example: according to J. Quintas 2016 on Sustainable Tourism and Alternative Livelihood Development on Ataúro Island, Timor-Leste, through Pro-poor, Community-Based Ecotourism,  CBET has contributed significantly to local livelihoods and poverty alleviation through job opportunities and the purchase of local products and local transport services, as well as providing an additional source of income and utilization of local construction materials, Coimbra, M. I. X. (2012) Pro-poor Tourism for Community Development,; and also, Pedi, D. (2007) Community-based ecotourism as a pro-poor development option in Timor-Leste.
